My Dog and I#2

Hi guys! So if you had read my last blog or story, you would know that I have a husky puppy.

We have many stairs in our house. I do not think Axl had seen stairs ever. He was scared and was having a difficult time going up and down the stairs. He would plonk his body in front of the stairs and sit like a statue showing that he didn’t want to go down. It was so strange for me to understand that, but then my Dad said that he had to teach me how to walk when I was a baby. So it is a new experience for Axl and he will learn.

We showed him where he would sleep. He would sleep in my room next to my bed. We didn’t have a crate for him, but we had a dog bed. Since he was very scared and nervous that night, he didn’t even sleep on the dog bed and instead on the ground. I felt terribly sorry that night for him.

The next day he was a bit more relaxed but was still scared of the stairs. He would become still and wouldn’t budge , I moved him slowly tugging his leash.

My dad said it was a good idea to slowly introduce him to the house, so we gave him his areas ( dog beds) in the family room, the kitchen, and in my room.

In his bed

Axl got blue buffalo dog food as recommended by the breeder. His food mat with food and water bowl was placed in a corner in our dining room. He got food two times a day with a snack of carrots in the afternoon. I never knew dogs ate carrots. Are we sure this is a dog or he is a horse or a bunny?

Dog?, Horse?,Bunny?

He was off the leash for most of the day except when he had his walks and his bathroom breaks. Speaking of bathroom breaks, he didn’t go to poop a lot that first day. He must be scared and confused. I came down to eat, then I saw him come running toward me from the family room. He usually doesn’t want to be alone so I suspected that he had done something. My family went running to the family room. To our astonishment, everything was fine in that room.

Then my dad went up to the connecting stairs , and yes, he found his poop on the carpeted landing. My dad took immediate action. Axl was shown his poop and scolded. Then he was punished and locked up in the garage.

I had to go and get the poop bags and dog odor spray. Since he pooped on carpet, there were stains, but the spray got rid of it mostly. It was nasty :( , but you have to clean up, because the dog cannot.

After about 10 minutes his punishment was over. I then took him to my room as it was time to sleep.

I hope you enjoyed his journey within the first couple of days and clearly, you can see it been difficult. Hopefully by the next time more things will ease, but till then see you later!
